Commanding HeightsThe documentary was split into 23 chapters of which we only covered up to chapter 18. The beginning of the documentary focused on the Global Idea. The way the world worked was changing and we as humanity had to find a way to adapt to this new way of life. It was 1992 and America's economy was adrift. Governor Clinton was campaigning for presidency with hopes to turn the economy around. Clinton won the candidacy and quickly went to America's head economist to create an agenda to have America catch up with the rate the world was now moving. The economist were in large favor for NAFTA, of which Clinton would latter approve despite his siding against it in his campaigns prior to his being elected. In doing this Clinton was betraying the American labor union as now their jobs would be sucked out of America and sent across the world to places where labor was a fraction of the cost.United StatesWith the crossing of borders now in affect American investments poured into the poor nations of the world like Mexico, Thailand, China etc... This created a boom in the American market however many Americans lost their jobs to people thousands a miles away from where they lived. Now the American labor union was in competition with people who worked for pennies; there was basically no competition as there was no way they would be able to compete with that. This caused an up roar in America; however, it increased the level of living standards in the poor nations around the world by creating jobs for them. This crossing of boarders thus created a Global Market that caused trade to go invisible. The Market was now becoming who we are. It was pushing people to perform at levels...

The Ins and Outs of High and Low
The Ins and Outs of High and Low The Ins and Outs of ââ¬Å"Highâ⬠and ââ¬Å"Lowâ⬠The Ins and Outs of ââ¬Å"Highâ⬠and ââ¬Å"Lowâ⬠By Mark Nichol High and low are such versatile terms that several hundred compound words employ one or the other and one idiomatic adverb consists of both: ââ¬Å"high and low,â⬠a synonym for ââ¬Å"everywhere.â⬠(ââ¬Å"Iââ¬â¢ve looked high and low for my new shoes.â⬠) They usually come first in compounds (ââ¬Å"high chair,â⬠ââ¬Å"low blowâ⬠), but sometimes they trail another word (ââ¬Å"contact high,â⬠ââ¬Å"record lowâ⬠). The compound can be open (ââ¬Å"high jump,â⬠ââ¬Å"low bidâ⬠), hyphenated (high-grading, low-minded), or closed (highlight, lowland). A compound can differ in firm depending on the part of speech (low-down as an synonym for contemptible; lowdown as another meaning for ââ¬Å"inside informationâ⬠). High or low can be part of a compound literal (ââ¬Å"high heels,â⬠ââ¬Å"low scoreâ⬠) or figurative (ââ¬Å"high horse, low-key). Sometimes, a nonstandard spelling is acceptable. For example, a high hat is a pair of cymbals facing each other on a pole that a drummer clashes together with a foot pedal; itââ¬â¢s also spelled hi-hat. And hi-fi is a slang abbreviation of ââ¬Å"high fidelityâ⬠; by extension, lo-fi refers to the opposite extreme of audio quality. ââ¬Å"High tech,â⬠short for ââ¬Å"high technology,â⬠is sometimes spelled hi-tech, and the antonym may be altered accordingly (lo-tech). Hijack, the verb referring to commandeering of or stealing from an airplane or a ground vehicle (it can also be a noun), has an alternate spelling of highjack, but thatââ¬â¢s rare. On the other hand, hijinks is the variant of ââ¬Å"high jinks,â⬠a synonym of antics. Highfalutin is a rare instance of a word with a clipped ending suggestive of a drawl, considered a regular form despite its informal appearance. This synonym for pretentious is even sometimes spelled hifalutin. Check the dictionary when using phrases including high or low to confirm or correct your guesses not only about whether the preferred spelling is the full word or the short form but also whether theyââ¬â¢re part of an open, hyphenated, or closed compound. Hyphenation, especially, can be tricky: High-and-mighty, for example, is an adjective that is hyphenated even after a noun or a pronoun (ââ¬Å"Heââ¬â¢s been all high-and-mighty since his promotionâ⬠), and ââ¬Å"low earth orbitâ⬠has no hyphen, even though low and earth (which, in addition, is not capitalized in this usage) modify orbit.
